• After the Fairs...

Well that is it for this year. No fairs left, but I have started to book them for next year. I am changing my criteria for next year. All fairs must be hand made only! I am sick of competing with sellers with low quality imported goods at fairs which are supposed to be high quality events.

The most disappointing recently was at Tatton Park in Cheshire. Organisers need to support their traders fully if events are to be most successful for all. Tatton was very poor on the Friday and we spent 7hours mainly chatting to each other whilst hundreds of potential customers didn’t even realise we were there. The signage was very poor and there was no lighting through the courtyard we were in. I would not have wandered in without lights being on. The other 2 days were better but could not make up fully for the losses on Friday.

St George’s Hall in Liverpool was so different. Full of excellent work, loads of advertising and plenty of staff to guide people around. What a difference!!

I recently completed a commission to go to Bermuda. A small panel, but creating the islands in glass was quite a challenge. I have another couple of commissions on the go at the moment. One is stained glass door panels and the other is a large fused piece based on a particular local view. Both will be very interesting to do.
